Decree Concerning the Recognition of the Statutes of the Conference of the Bishops of Australia

His Excellency the Most Reverend Francis Patrick Carroll, President of the Conference of the Bishops of Australia, in the name of that Conference, has petitioned the Apostolic See that the statutes of the Episcopal Assembly, approved on 10 March 1979, and revised according the norms of the apostolic letter "Apostolos Suos" issued motu proprio, be duly reviewed.

 

The Congregation for Bishops, by virtue of faculties granted to it by the Supreme Pontiff John Paul II, by divine providence Pope, having heard the Secretariat of State and the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts, finds that the norms of the statutes of the Conference of the Bishops of Australia as contained in the attached copy conform to universal canon law, and approved them.

 

Therefore, these norms are able to be promulgated in the manner and at the time determined by the above-mentioned Conference.

 

Anything to the contrary notwithstanding.

 

Given at the Congregation for Bishops in Rome on the 28th day of the month of June in the year 2001.
