The Australian Catholic Bishops Conference today announced the appointment of Mrs Susan O’Connor as Director, Office for Employment Relations (OER).
Sue O’Connor has experience in the areas of employment relations, risk management and organisational development, including three years as the Employment Relations Advisor in the Secretariat for the Australian Catholic Commission for Employment Relations, the precursor to OER.
Her qualifications include a Master of Business Administration (Deakin) specialising in Strategy & Planning and Leadership & Communication, and a Graduate Diploma Labour Relations Law (Melbourne). Over many years Mrs O’Connor has volunteered in a wide range of community roles including Catholic school boards and neighbourhood houses, and is currently a member of a local water authority consultative committee.
Bishop William Morris of Toowoomba, the Bishops’ Delegate for Employment Relations, said “Sue O’Connor is a welcome appointment to the newly created Office for Employment Relations.”
“One of her roles as Director will be to provide administrative support to the Australian Catholic Council for Employment Relations, which has taken over from the former Australian Catholic Commission for Employment Relations as the advisory body of the ACBC. Sue is ideally placed to assist the Church in this important work.”
Sue said “I am delighted to once again be in a position to contribute to the life of the Church in the area of employment relations. I look forward to reconnecting with Church colleagues and starting a new phase of the Office for Employment Relations.”
Sue will commence at the Office for Employment Relations in Melbourne on Monday 29 January 2007.
